Newer cars are more likely to have a cabin air filter than older models. Not all Chevrolets have a cabin air filter and for some models, the inclusion of a cabin air filter depends on what trim level you have (LS). However, if you pay to have the cabin air filter changed for you, that can easily cost $50 - $100. These filters are fairly inexpensive, the cost of a cabin air filter is usually $10 - $30 (tip: buy several - they don't expire and you will be able to quickly swap the old one out for a fresh one). Replacing the cabin air filter (also known as the dust filter, hvac filter, pollen filter, air conditioner filter and hepa filter) will improve the air quality of your Cobalt, will put less strain on your heating and air conditioning system and can increase your gas mileage. If you drive in dusty conditions, lots of stop and go traffic or have sensitivities to pollen, road dust and pollution, change your cabin air filter more often. How often to change the cabin air filter? Change your cabin air filter frequently: at least once a year or every 20,000 miles. I would like to maybe get one that has charcoal or something that would help filter out odors. The cabin air filter in your 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt filters the air that is blown from your heater or air conditioner into the cabin of your Cobalt. Its a HEPA type of filter and was like $15-16. I will be able to get 4 out of the filter I got. But its almost cheaper to just buy one like I did at home depot and cut it to size. I'm sure at some point we will find the right one. It looks like the filter for the VUE not an Aura. Remember that I said our filter was 10 x 8. ITS NOT THE RIGHT FILTER! (I don't mean to yell just don't want someone to buy it and then have to hassle to return it) If you click on the part number it brings up a picture of the filter and its de-mentions. Well I just checked on that site and see the filter that you found. The 2007 Aura does not have a part number listed, so I guess they didn't have any models with cabin air filters. SATURN VUE GREEN LINE L4 2.4L Gas & Electric It also shows all other vehicles that use that filter, so they should be available:ĬHEVROLET LIGHT TRUCKS EQUINOX V6 3.4L 207 CID It should be possible to cross reference, or look up another brand for the listed vehicles. Maybe one size will fit all, if the air boxes are the same. I'm guessing there is another Epsilon platform car that does make use of the filter which is why the spot is there for one on the Aura despite its exclusion from the factory.Īt it shows a cabin air filter for the 08' Aura with the 3.5L, V-6 engine, VIN Code N. But the spot for the filter was in both cars, so just pop the Regal filter in the GP and it would work. The Buick Regal came with a cabin air filter but the Pontiac Grand Prix with the same engine did not. Ha! This isn't surprising to me though since GM did this with the old W-body cars. I'm sure there must be a filter out there that would fit this but until someone can find it this will work just fine, IMHO. One word of caution, when you are cutting out this piece of plastic watch out for the metal bar that runs behind it because it has a sharp edge and I scraped my hand on it while cutting. That's it! just put the glovebox back in and you are done. That won't matter because like I said the air is sucked down so the filter will always stay secure to the bottom of the box. With the air filter in, there will be a small gap between the top of the filter and the top edge of the air box. After doing that simply take your pre-cut filter and slide it in, making sure that you have the air flow for the filter pointing down. Using a flashlight you will see a indented area that is 10" long and 3/4" high. right behind the glovebox is the air box. You will then need to cut the filter to a size of 10" x 8".Ģ. Anyway here is what I did and what you will need to do it: A box cutter and any furnace filter from lowes/home depot. What is weird is that they don't offer one but they built the air box for one, go figure. Hey all I just thought i would let everyone know that you can have a cabin air filter.
